Cake Pop Angel Ornament wit Royal Icing

This little cutie is a great Christmas Break Project for kids. The wings, candle and halo are made with Royal Icing. They could easily be made weeks in advance to be ready for a fun quick project. They could also be made with white chocolate to be ready right away.

The body of the Angel is made from a sugar cone and the head is a cake pop covered in pink candy melts.

Another Sculpted Santa Cake by Leah

This Amazing Santa Cake is a perfect example of a combination of figure piping, sculpting and airbrush!

Grape Vine and Leaves Cake

Making a big design on a small cake is a great technique, but you have to be careful to achieve the right balance. You want the design to stand out but not overwhelm your cake. In this design the Vines and the Leaves don't cover the entire cake, there is a lot of space or (relief) between them. This Spacing is the key to having a balanced and pretty design.

I just love this Grape Vine and  Leaves design. It has  a fresh and yet sophisticated feel. It's a great design for a non-flowery birthday, or for the Wine enthusiast in your life. It's good for the fall as well as summer.

Sculpted Santa by Leah

Leah's Sculpted Santa Cake is made on 8" rounds shaved to create the body and head. His rosie cheeks are airbrushed and his beard is piped on with a large figure piping tip.

Sculpted 3D Penguin Cake- by Leah

Leah was looking for a Winter, but not Holiday, cake for  the cake at work. She came up with this Adorable Penguin. It's sculpted like a Barbie Cake with 8 inch rounds shaved into the body of the penguin. She airbrushed the black to avoid heavy black icing. The beak and the feat are figure piped.

Holiday Yule Log with Poinsettia

A Yule Log Cake makes a great Holiday table  center piece as well as a delicious dessert. This cake was made in a tube pan but could be easily made with a Jelly Roll recipe. The stumps are made with marshmallows and the leaves are 3D made with card stock. A Piped on Poinsettia will definitely impress your Holiday guests.

I always love to see You Tube friend, Anita's, gorgeous interpretations of these designs. She combined the poinsettia with the Decadent Chocolate Cake for her daughters birthday. I love the pooling of the ganache at the border, it really adds to the richness of the look of this cake. Once again BRAVA Anita!

How to use a Star Tip

Every Decorator needs a star tip. It's an essential. I demonstrate here how to decorate an entire cake with very basic borders, quickly. If you ever end up stranded on an island with just one tip, now you know what to do!

How to Use a Rose Tiip

The rose tip is definitely one of my most used tips. I demonstrate here how it's possible to decorate a whole cake with just this one tip if you need or want to. When I worked in a shop I liked to change it up and make my borders with a rose tip. It's a great way for beginners to master the tip too.

Delicious Cinnamon Pin wheels

The only thing my family loves more than Fresh Baked Pie By the Yard, is these pin wheel cookies made with left over pie dough. I spread room temp butter on the dough and sprinkle liberally with cinnamon sugar, roll up and cut into 1/2 wedges and bake at 350 for 20 minutes. They are delicious and pretty!

Decorated Apple Pie

Decorated Pies are a Fall Favorite for me and all who receive them as Gifts. For this Design I cut and paint the leaves before baking them off . They are placed on after the pie is baked and secured with a lemon glaze. Video coming soon.

Poop Cake- Great Prank Cake

This GROSS OUT cake is a blast to make. It's so much fun, I laughed the whole time I was decorating it. It's a great prank cake. When we used to make this in the shop, most people wanted it to say "Happy Birthday Crap Head" Or " Happy Birthday You Old Poop". People went crazy for it. Of course it's chocolate icing with candy corn and parchment paper accents. Watch the whole process on youtube: click this link.

MineCraft Creeper Cake

My son loves Minecraft and wanted me to try to make him a Creeper Cake. I wanted to create the pixel effect with candy melt squares. It did achieve the effect but lacked the luster I'm used to. I think next time I will try again with icing instead of Candy melts.

Alf and Sponge Bob Cakes by Anita

Anita created this for her grown sons birthday. He loved it!
She does great characters, a real skill!

Sponge Bob is a Classic too! Great Job Anita!

Pretty Piped Birthday Cake

I was asked to do a last minute Birthday Cake for a good friend and was stuck as to what to do with it. I opted for lots of borders. On the top I used a #124 Rose tip and used a scallop technique. I added another U shape with a #23 star tip and then the darkest blue detail is done with a #4 writing tip.

Under the Rose and Carnation design I laid down a spray of green stems with a #4 writer and then just a touch of leaves.

The side detail is a #23 star tip is used in the bottom shell border and the C shape above the  Blue scallop that mimics the top detail. The Sweet Pea detail is done with a #124 Rose and the dot detail is a#4 writer.

Piped Pumpkin Head Tutorial

Pretty Pumpkin head is a fun to make Holiday cake. She is made of three 8" layers and two marshmallows for the stem. The leaves are made with a #124 rose tip and the eyes with a coupler opening. I used piping gel for the black accents. This can be altered for a boy by leaving off the eyelashes and lips.
By leaving off the face all together and adding fall colored mums around the stems, you have a beautiful center piece for an Autumn feast.

Fall Leaves- Maple, Oak and Acorns

Autumn Leaves are a fun and beautiful alternative to flowers.
This Design works well for a fall dinner party, Thanksgiving, as well as for a Masculine cake.

The most important tip for creating beautiful Fall Leaves is the getting the right colors. These need to be deep and bright. Rich reds, oranges, and yellows work great, but adding some green can add a late summer splash. A striping technique is employed here to get the striking red edges.
